Speaking, Training & Workshops
People choose where they give their time. They stay where they know they belong.
Practical, people-centered presentations that help mission-driven organizations build places where people know they belong.
Each session combines a meaningful shift in how participants see leadership with clear, realistic ways to strengthen volunteer engagement.
Most sessions are designed for approximately 60 minutes, including time for questions, and can be adapted for shorter presentations, extended sessions, or interactive workshops. Sessions are available for conferences, webinars, staff development, leadership gatherings, and organizational workshops.
From an attendee: "I am the newly appointed Co-Chair of the Family Promise of Cobb County in Marietta GA. I had the pleasure of attending your webinar for the Atlanta chapter of COVA. You provided excellent tips on attracting, retaining, and recognizing volunteers. "

Why Volunteer Engagement Matters

Discover how thoughtfully involving people can increase organizational capacity, deepen community relationships, strengthen mission impact, and create meaningful experiences for the people who choose to give their time. -
The Volunteer Home Blueprint
Building Places Where People Know They Belong
A warm welcome matters—but belonging is shaped by everything that happens before and after someone enters. Explore how purpose, structure, entry experiences, meaningful opportunities, support, and continuity work together to create a place where people feel known, valued, connected, and able to contribute. -
Hidden in Plain Sight
Seeing the Full Value and Potential of Volunteer Engagement
Organizations often see the tasks people complete without fully recognizing the skills, ideas, relationships, influence, and possibilities they bring. Learn how to design opportunities that reflect real organizational needs while respecting people’s skills, interests, time, confidence, and current capacity—so the right people can recognize where they fit. -
More Ways Through the Door
Designing Accessible and Flexible Volunteer Engagement

I Saw What You Did
Recognition That Helps People Feel Known, Valued, and Connected
Recognition is more than an annual event, a gift, or a quick “thank you.” Discover how specific, personal, year-round appreciation can help people understand that their effort was noticed, their contribution mattered, and they have a meaningful place within the organization. -
After the Welcome
Creating the Connection, Support, and Belonging That Strengthen Volunteer Retention
Orientation may help someone begin, but it does not automatically give them a reason to stay. Explore the communication, confidence, relationships, feedback, support, recognition, and opportunities for growth that shape whether people remain connected after the initial welcome wears off.
